Mathura, September 4 (Udaipur Kiran) : As the clock struck midnight on September 5, the air in Mathura was filled with excitement and the joyous chants of “Hathi Ghoda Palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki,” marking the birth of Lord Krishna. The celebrations extended far beyond Mathura, with similar festivities reported in Delhi-NCR, Dwarka, and Bengaluru.
In Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, the Janmashtami festival was celebrated with great fervor and devotion. Temples erupted with the sounds of devotees chanting praises as they engaged in the midnight aarti. Since early morning, a steady stream of pilgrims from across the country flocked to the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple to seek blessings.
The atmosphere within the temple complex transformed into a vibrant festival ground following the Mangala Aarti. Devotees danced and celebrated to the beats of drums and traditional instruments, filling the air with joyous shouts of “Jai Kanhaiya Lal.” Authorities had made extensive arrangements to ensure the comfort and safety of the visitors, allowing them to enjoy the festivities without any inconvenience.
One female devotee shared her sentiments, stating, “Everything is happening by the grace of Kanha Ji. This is His play and His magic; only He knows. The entire world dances to His tune; no human has such power.” Another devotee, Mohan Singh, expressed his joy, saying, “We have been celebrating here for about 15 years. It brings us immense happiness. Whenever we come here, we dance a lot. I myself don’t dance; it is Kanha who makes me dance.”
A woman who frequently visits the temple noted, “My in-laws are from Mathura, and I live here, so I come to see the Lord daily. However, this is my first time visiting on Janmashtami. It feels wonderful.” Another long-time visitor remarked on the improved facilities at the temple, saying, “I have been coming here for the last 20 years. When I don’t come, it feels like I’m missing something. The arrangements are much better now, and the experience is very pleasant.”
