Udaipur, May 11, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) – Under a special enforcement drive against illegal liquor operations across Rajasthan, the Excise Department has destroyed 2,48,931 litres of wash and registered 959 cases between May 1 and May 10, 2026.
The campaign is being carried out under the direction of Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta to curb the illegal manufacture, storage, transportation and sale of liquor through intensified checking, patrolling and raids across the state.
According to official information, the department seized 3,920 litres of country liquor worth Rs 10.52 lakh, 930 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth Rs 9.28 lakh, 1,476 litres of beer worth Rs 3.26 lakh and 6,622 litres of illicit liquor during the drive.
A total of 37 vehicles, including eight heavy vehicles, two four-wheelers and 27 two-wheelers, were seized during the operation. The department also arrested 310 people in connection with various cases.
The Excise Department said strict action is being taken under a zero-tolerance policy against liquor smuggling, illegal transportation and unlawful sale of liquor from other states.
In Sri Ganganagar, excise teams seized 355 pouches of country liquor and a motorcycle from a liquor shop area. In another action in village Aboharia, officials recovered 288 pouches of country liquor from a motorcycle and arrested two accused.
In Sujangarh, 60 pouches of country liquor were seized from a motorcycle, while in Begun area of Chittorgarh district, four cases were registered during enforcement action.
In Nagaur’s Merta City, a case was registered for transporting 10 litres of illicit liquor on a motorcycle and 600 litres of wash were destroyed. In another operation in Nagaur, four litres of illicit liquor were seized.
Checking of suspicious vehicles is also being intensified through barricading on the Bharatmala Expressway in Kota and on the Bharatmala Road at Norgadesar in Bikaner Rural.
The department stated that enforcement teams, district excise officers and excise inspectors across all districts are continuing strict action against illegal liquor activities under the ongoing special drive.
