New Delhi : Elon Musk on Saturday confirmed that he will not be able to visit India this month due to Tesla’s important quarterly results. He may come to India later this year.
In a post on X, the billionaire said that the India trip would be delayed due to several commitments related to Tesla.
“But I’m very excited to come later this year,” Musk said.
Last week, the billionaire had tweeted that he wanted to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The SpaceX CEO was also scheduled to meet representatives of Indian space companies during his India visit.
Musk recently held an important conference call with analysts on Tesla’s quarterly results, after which the company laid off 10 percent of its workforce, or about 14,000 employees, globally.
The layoffs at Tesla saw up to 20 percent of employees in some departments being fired. The decision was primarily due to “poor financial performance.”
Two high-profile Tesla executives – Rohan Patel and Drew Baglino – have also left the company.
Tesla has also put on hold plans to develop a low-cost EV for around $25,000.
