Devi Bhagwat Katha Highlights Strength, Wisdom and Service: Prashant Agarwal
Udaipur, October 14, 2026: The Shrimad Devi Bhagwat Katha organised at the World of Humanity, Sevateerth, Narayan Seva Sansthan, highlighted the glory of Goddess Durga, women’s empowerment and the importance of devotion. The narration, held in the presence of Sansthan President Prashant Agarwal, conveyed messages of unity, humility, wisdom and service through the episodes of Mahishasura’s defeat and the stories of Queen Shachi, Lord Indra and King Nahusha.

Goddess Durga’s Victory Highlights the Power of Unity
Narrating the story of the gods troubled by Mahishasura’s atrocities, the speaker explained that Goddess Durga emerged from the collective divine energy of all the gods. They presented her with their divine weapons, while the Himalayas gifted her a lion as her mount.
Goddess Durga defeated Mahishasura and freed the gods from his oppression. The episode highlighted how collective strength and united efforts can help overcome even the greatest challenges.
The narration also conveyed that considering anyone weak is a sign of arrogance. Women’s power was described as a symbol of strength, courage and determination.
Queen Shachi’s Story Emphasises Faith and Wisdom
The episode of Queen Shachi and King Nahusha illustrated the importance of humility, restraint and sound judgement.
After Lord Indra left heaven, Nahusha was appointed to his position. However, power made him arrogant, and he attempted to bring Queen Shachi under his control.
During this difficult period, Shachi worshipped Goddess Mahamaya and, with her guidance, found a way to reach her husband, Indra. Later, Nahusha was cursed after insulting Sage Agastya, leading to his downfall.
The episode conveyed that position and power are meaningful only when accompanied by humility and respect for moral boundaries. Faith and wisdom can guide people towards the right path even in difficult circumstances.
Small Acts of Service Can Bring Major Change
Prashant Agarwal said that just as the collective energy of the gods brought forth the power of Goddess Durga, small contributions from individuals can bring significant changes to the lives of people in need.
He emphasised that every act of service can light a new lamp of hope and confidence in someone’s life.
Appeal to Support People in Need During Navratri
Devotees were urged to combine worship of the Goddess during Navratri with practical efforts to support those in need. They were encouraged to contribute, according to their ability, towards education, medical treatment and the provision of artificial limbs for people who require them.
