Delhi Weather Update: Rain Brings AQI Down to 93, October’s Lowest Day Temperature in 4 Years
New Delhi, October 30, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): A sudden change in weather has brought relief to residents of the national capital. Scattered overnight rain and thunderstorms helped wash away some of the accumulated pollutants, improving Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) to the ‘satisfactory’ category.
In contrast, Mumbai witnessed hazy conditions on Friday morning, with visibility dropping significantly in several areas.
The combined influence of Cyclone Arnab and a western disturbance led to Delhi recording its lowest maximum temperature for October in four years on October 29. Rain, thundershowers and persistent cloud cover affected the capital throughout the day.

Delhi Records Lowest October Maximum Temperature in Four Years
At the Safdarjung weather station, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 25.4°C on October 29, which was 5.6 degrees below normal.
This was the lowest daytime temperature recorded in October in the past four years. Before this, the maximum temperature had dropped to 23.4°C on October 8, 2022.
Persistent cloud cover also kept the minimum temperature higher at 19.2°C, around 3.1 degrees above normal.
Several parts of Delhi-NCR received light to moderate rainfall, along with intermittent showers throughout the night. Jharoda Kalan recorded the highest rainfall, at around 49 mm.
From late Thursday night to Friday morning, good rainfall was reported around several prominent locations, including Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station and Jamia Millia Islamia.
Delhi’s AQI Improves to Satisfactory Category
The rainfall not only brought down temperatures but also helped reduce airborne pollution.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI near India Gate dropped to 93 after remaining in the ‘poor’ category for several days. An AQI reading of 93 falls in the ‘satisfactory’ category, which ranges from 51 to 100.
The improvement brought relief to residents who had been experiencing poor air quality in recent days.
Delhi Weather Forecast: Rain Likely on Friday
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Delhi-NCR received the light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activity as forecast earlier.
On Friday, October 30, skies are expected to remain generally cloudy. Very light to light rain and thundershowers are possible in some areas.
Weather conditions are likely to improve from Saturday, October 31, with partly cloudy skies expected. No weather warning has been issued for the day.

Rain Alert for Southern Peninsular India
Apart from Delhi, the weather department has issued alerts for parts of southern peninsular India as a new weather system moves in from the Bay of Bengal.
Between November 2 and 4, rainfall is likely at most places across coastal Karnataka, Kerala, south interior Karnataka, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
