Mumbai, August 5: Congress leader Bhai Jagatap expressed deep sorrow over the passing of D.Y. Patil, the former Governor of Tripura and Bihar, renowned educator, and Padma Shri awardee. He also commented on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s proposed ‘Gen-Z’ dialogue, the results of the Bankipur assembly by-election, and political remarks concerning Sunetra Pawar.
Bhai Jagatap stated that D.Y. Patil’s demise is a significant loss not only for Maharashtra but for the entire nation. His contributions to education were unparalleled, which is why Maharashtra has remained a leading state in this sector. He emphasized that merely communicating through social media or Instagram would not win the trust of the youth.
Bhai Jagatap pointed out that while young people were protesting at Jantar Mantar, various unfounded allegations were made against them instead of listening to their concerns. He asserted that India is one of the youngest nations in the world, and the power of youth cannot be overlooked.
He noted that in recent days, BJP ministers and leaders have been reaching out to people door-to-door, a practice not seen before. While engaging with the public is not wrong, the arrogance displayed after coming to power has been dismantled by the youth of the nation.
On the results of the Bankipur assembly by-election, Bhai Jagatap launched a sharp attack on the BJP, stating that if the party could not retain its seat, the party president should take moral responsibility and resign. He declared this outcome as the beginning of the BJP’s countdown.
In response to a question about Sunetra Pawar being referred to as a ‘mute doll’ by Congress, he remarked that it is natural to undergo a learning process when taking on new responsibilities in politics. Until now, Sunetra Pawar has supported Ajit Pawar as his wife, and in the current circumstances, she has taken on new responsibilities. She is a capable woman and will emerge stronger over time. He advised that such comments should not hurt her, citing former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who was once called a ‘mute doll’ but showcased women’s strength to the world through her leadership.
