Cyclone Brings Heavy Rain Across Rajasthan; Bhilwara Sees Coldest Day of the Season
Jaipur, October 29 (Udaipur Kiran): Under the influence of cyclonic systems formed over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, several parts of Rajasthan have been witnessing continuous rainfall for the past two days. On Wednesday, a yellow alert for rain was issued for 11 districts of the state, while many areas received up to five inches of rainfall on Tuesday, leading to overflowing rivers and streams and a sharp dip in temperature.

Cloudy skies and cool winds prevailed throughout Tuesday across most districts of Jaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota divisions. By afternoon, the chill in the air was clearly felt, marking the arrival of winter-like conditions. The maximum temperature in these areas ranged between 20°C and 30°C.
Bhilwara recorded the most significant weather change, with the daytime temperature dropping to just 19.6°C, making it the coldest day of the season so far. Interestingly, Bhilwara’s maximum temperature was even lower than the minimum night temperatures recorded in several other districts, including Barmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Dungarpur, Jalore, Pratapgarh, and Jhunjhunu — indicating an unusually cold day across the region.
According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre and the Water Resources Department, the heaviest rainfall was recorded in Nainwa (Bundi) at 130 mm (nearly five inches). Several other districts — including Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Kota, Udaipur, Pratapgarh, Baran, and Banswara — also received between three and four inches of rainfall.
The heavy downpour has led to a renewed inflow of water into the Bisalpur Dam, prompting authorities to open one of its gates for discharge. In Udaipur, rising lake levels led to the release of excess water from the interconnected lake system.
The continuous rainfall has caused a noticeable fall in both day and night temperatures across southern and eastern Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has forecast that rainfall activity will gradually subside from the evening of October 30, with skies expected to clear thereafter.
From November 2, the weather across the state is likely to remain dry, although a further dip in night temperatures is expected.
