Udaipur, May 5, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): Under a special enforcement drive against illegal liquor, authorities across the state have intensified action against its manufacture, storage, transportation, and sale. Acting on the directions of Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta, teams carried out naka bandi, patrolling, and raids in multiple districts.
From May 1 to May 4, 2026, a total of 388 cases were registered during the drive. Authorities seized 992.77 litres of country liquor worth ₹2,56,834, 453.925 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth ₹4,51,985, 292.4 litres of beer worth ₹66,828, and 2,284 litres of illicit liquor. In addition, 96,553 litres of wash used for making liquor was destroyed. Five vehicles, including one four-wheeler and four two-wheelers, were seized, and 121 individuals were arrested.
Strict enforcement was carried out by excise teams with a zero-tolerance approach against illegal liquor trade and smuggling from other states. In Salumber area of Udaipur, teams destroyed 1,500 litres of wash and seized illicit liquor. In Bikaner zone, cases were registered in rural Bikaner, Nokha, and Khajuwala.
In Hanumangarh, cases were registered in Hanumangarh, Sangaria, and Bhadra, while a running distillation unit was destroyed in Churu. In Sri Ganganagar, cases were filed in Raisinghnagar, Suratgarh, and Srikaranpur. A total of 14 cases were registered in these operations, leading to the arrest of nine accused. Seizures included 184 pouches of country liquor, 48 pouches of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, and 25 litres of illicit liquor, along with destruction of 1,800 litres of wash.
Further action in Jodhpur’s Luni and Sardarpura areas led to destruction of two active distillation units and 450 litres of wash. In Rajsamand, a raid in Nathdwara resulted in seizure of illegal liquor and destruction of 200 litres of wash. In Bharatpur zone, raids in Kumher destroyed 4,000 litres of wash and eight distillation units, while in Bayana, 200 litres of wash and 5 litres of illicit liquor were seized, and one person was arrested.
In Jaipur rural areas, raids in Shahpura region led to destruction of 1,000 litres of wash and arrest of three accused. Similar action in Dungarpur, Nagaur, Merta, and Beawar resulted in multiple cases, seizures, and arrests.
Officials stated that the special enforcement drive is ongoing across all districts, with excise teams maintaining strict vigilance under a zero-tolerance policy against illegal liquor activities.
