Udaipur, March 22, 2025 – Acting swiftly on public complaints and directives from the District Collector, the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Ashok Aditya led a decisive crackdown against unauthorised clinics operating in the Kotda block, specifically in the Bekariya region. Seven illegal medical establishments were targeted in the operation, marking a significant step in safeguarding public health and enforcing medical regulations in tribal and rural belts.

Swift Action Triggered by Complaints
According to Dr. Ashok Aditya, reports of illegal medical practice had been surfacing from the Bekariya area for some time. Responding with urgency, two special teams were constituted at the district level. In coordination with the Kotda Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and local police authorities, these teams were dispatched to Bekariya to carry out targeted inspections and enforcement.
Clinics Disguised as Medical Stores
Two prime locations were raided:
Talukdar Medical Store near Devla Bus Stand
Hinglaj Medical in Bekariya Main Market
Investigations revealed that clinics were being illegally run under the guise of medical stores. Both establishments were operating under borrowed licenses and without the mandatory presence of licensed pharmacists.
At Talukdar Medical, Bhupati Talukdar was found administering treatment without any recognized medical qualifications.
At Hinglaj Medical, Tikam Chand Khatri was similarly treating patients without possessing a valid medical degree.
Both individuals were found violating multiple provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and cases were registered against them by Drug Inspector Kuldeep Yaduvanshi.
Evading the Law: Clinics Shut Down and Sealed
As news of the raids spread, several illegal clinic operators absconded, hastily shutting down their premises. These included:
Clinics run by Anup Rai and Roni Rai, located opposite Hinglaj Medical
Abhay Das’s clinic near Bada Pool
DK Rai and Surjan’s clinics, both situated near Devla Bus Stand
All five premises were sealed on-site, and the local police were notified to proceed with legal action.
Officials on Duty: A Coordinated Operation
The crackdown was executed through a joint effort involving multiple medical and enforcement personnel. Present during the action were:
Dr. Rakesh Gupta and Dr. Pranav Bhavsar from Udaipur
Drug Inspector Kuldeep Yaduvanshi
Neha Bansal, Hemendra Menaria, and Ashish Damor
Bekariya CHC in-charge and Devla PHC in-charge
This multi-departmental collaboration ensured that the inspections were both comprehensive and legally sound.
A Message of Accountability and Vigilance
This bold move by the health department sends a strong message against quackery and unauthorized medical practices. CMHO Dr. Ashok Aditya reaffirmed the department’s commitment to public safety, stating that such operations will continue to root out unqualified practitioners endangering lives under the pretense of healthcare.
Citizens are urged to verify the credentials of medical practitioners and report suspicious establishments to ensure that quality healthcare is not compromised in rural and tribal regions.
