Hyderabad, June 17: Kalvakuntla Kavitha, founder and president of Telangana Jagruti, has criticized Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s decision to name a road in Hyderabad ‘Donald Trump Avenue.’ Kavitha expressed her discontent on social media, questioning what the former U.S. President has done for Telangana, especially considering the fears faced by millions of students and migrants in the U.S. due to uncertain visa policies.
She argued that no company would invest in Hyderabad based on the name of a road, stating, “Naming a major road after Trump is an insult to our own people. Global companies will invest in Hyderabad for talent, infrastructure, and profits, not because of political flattery on street signs. If anything can be gained from this, it is visa approvals for your family members. This is not diplomacy; it is an attempt to gain cheap international headlines at the cost of our identity and self-respect.”
The Telangana government is set to unveil ‘Donald Trump Avenue’ next week, a proposal that was initially suggested by Chief Minister Rao in December 2025. Kavitha also urged the Chief Minister to prioritize local projects, specifically mentioning the Tumidi Hatti initiative, which she believes should be started immediately if there is any sincerity in his leadership.
