Commerce college students damage vehicles, block road over parking issue

‘2 including  college president arrested, 6 detained’

Udaipur : Students of the Mohanlal Sukhadia University’s commerce college populary known as MB college created ruckus and  commotion on the main road outside the college over a long standing parking issue. Students dragged the two wheelers that were parked on the roadside along the college boundary wall and parked them in the middle of the road, thus creating a huge traffic jam.

They broke the glass of vehicles and hurled stones when the police came to stop them. To control the situation, the cops used slight power to disperse the youth and took some of them to the police station. ” Two students including the college president Himanshu Panwar and one of his aide Himanshu Bagdi has been arrested while six others have been detained” informed DySP Bhagwat Singh Hingad. According to the college sources, people who worked in the nearby offices and shops parked their vehicles on the footpath along the college boundary wall outside. The students had been for some time protesting over this issue. However, they never complained this to the authorities nor brought it to the notice of the police.

” They had never brought up the parking issue before and suddenly on monday they took law in their hands. Glasses of some 8-10 vehicles were shattered and they disturbed the entire area with the hooliganism. They even tried to be physical with the cops  and hence a case has been initiated by the police itself as none of the vehicle owners come up with a complaint” Hingad said. Two have been arrested while six have been detained and the case has been registered under sections 143, 149, 283, 186 and 427 of the IPC.
