Udaipur, May 3 – Udaipur District Collector Namit Mehta conducted an unannounced inspection of Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital, the largest medical facility in the division, on Saturday. The inspection focused on evaluating healthcare delivery, heatwave preparedness, sanitation, and drinking water arrangements for patients and their attendants amid soaring temperatures.

Accompanied by Additional District Collector (Administration) Dipendra Singh Rathore, the Collector visited critical areas of the hospital including the medicine and orthopaedic wards, emergency unit, and outpatient departments (OPD). During his interaction with patients and their families, he enquired about the availability and quality of services provided by the hospital.
Cleanliness and Cooling Infrastructure Under Review
Collector Mehta assessed the cleanliness of hospital restrooms and wards, instructing staff to maintain hygienic conditions. Hospital Superintendent Dr. R.L. Suman briefed the Collector on current cooling arrangements, confirming that air conditioners, coolers, and fans were fully operational wherever available. He added that any complaints received were being addressed promptly.
Collector Orders Enhancement of Drinking Water Facilities
The Collector personally inspected the hospital’s water coolers, drinking stations (pyaus), and advised further improvements. He instructed officials to place water campers across various locations—wards, OPDs, lobbies, and even hospital gardens—to ensure easy access to cold drinking water during the ongoing heatwave.
Radiology Services Reviewed, Expansion Proposed
In his visit to the radiology department, Collector Mehta reviewed the status of diagnostic services such as MRI and sonography. He also inquired about patient waiting times and resource availability. Dr. Suman highlighted that MB Hospital hosts one of the most advanced MRI setups among Rajasthan’s government hospitals. The Collector directed officials to prepare proposals for additional equipment, ensuring timely service delivery to patients.
