‘Clayface’ Opens at No. 1 with $10.4 Million; ‘You Can See Everything’ Follows

The new DC film ‘Clayface’ debuted at No. 1 with $10.4 million, followed by A24’s documentary ‘You Can See Everything’ earning $6.14 million.

‘Clayface’ topped the box office this weekend, debuting with $10.4 million from 3,458 North American theaters. Directed by James Watkins, the film tells the origin story of the Batman villain Matt Hagen, portrayed by Tom Rhys Harries.

The film’s strong opening is projected to reach between $24 million and $25 million by the end of the weekend. Audience reception appears favorable, earning an A- CinemaScore, comparable to other DC films.

In second place, A24’s documentary ‘You Can See Everything’ collected $6.14 million from 2,655 theaters, showing an increase in audience turnout from its opening weekend. The film explores the life of Elizabeth Holmes, the former CEO of Theranos, and has so far grossed approximately $31.7 million domestically.

The documentary, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, is anticipated to gross around $19 million to $20 million in its second weekend. It has received positive reviews, maintaining a 5-star rating with a 79% recommendation rate.

Third place went to Laika’s animated film ‘Wildwood’, which made $4.28 million over its opening weekend. Directed by Travis Knight, ‘Wildwood’ follows a teenage girl and her classmate in a quest through an enchanted forest.

Black Bear’s romantic comedy ‘Wicker’ opened in fourth place, earning $2.36 million, while Legendary Entertainment’s action film ‘Street Fighter’ rounded out the top five with $2.34 million. Despite a steep decline from its opening, ‘Street Fighter’ is expected to reach a total gross of about $46.7 million.

The overall weekend box office is projected to be $97.6 million, reflecting a 29% increase compared to the same weekend last year. This surge reflects a strong turnout as films gear up for the Halloween season.
