Cincinnati stunned No. 8 Texas Tech with a 37-24 victory, ending the Red Raiders' undefeated streak and marking a key win for the Bearcats.

Cincinnati defeated No. 8 Texas Tech 37-24 on Saturday, marking an upset that ended the Red Raiders’ unbeaten season.
The Bearcats improved to 5-2, with quarterback JC French IV throwing for a career-high four touchdowns. Cole Tabb added a personal-best 173 rushing yards. This victory was Cincinnati’s first against a top-10 team at home since defeating No. 7 Rutgers in 2006.
Texas Tech, now 6-1, struggled with turnovers and offensive mistakes. Quarterback Will Hammond lost a fumble and threw an interception, complicating their scoring attempts. They initially led 6-3 but could not maintain momentum.
Cincinnati’s offense surged in the second quarter, scoring three touchdowns. Tabb’s catch and two rushing touchdowns helped establish a 24-6 halftime lead. In the second half, the Bearcats responded after a safety-influenced interception return by Peyton Morgan.
As the game progressed, Tabb’s 58-yard touchdown run effectively sealed the win with six minutes remaining. Coach Scott Satterfield said this victory was a much-needed boost for the Bearcats.
Fans chanted Brendan Sorsby’s name during the game, reflecting a narrative between the teams as Texas Tech had pursued him before he did not play due to gambling allegations.
Looking ahead, Texas Tech faces tough opponents, including Arizona, as they strive to stay in contention for a College Football Playoff berth.
