Ranchi, July 24: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested three more individuals in connection with the alleged irregularities in various competitive examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). With these arrests, the total number of individuals apprehended in this case has now reached eight.
The CID has expanded its investigation, conducting raids at two hotels in Ranchi. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to examine various digital and documentary evidence related to the case. According to a press release from the CID, the arrested individuals include Hemant Verma, Pradeep Kumar Singh, and Sanjay Kumar, who are employees of the outsourcing agency TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL) involved in the examination process.
The CID is currently interrogating the three regarding aspects related to examination operations and data processing. Previously, the CID had also arrested Shweta Kumari Gupta, the Deputy Controller of Examinations at JPSC, along with Ramveer Singh, the director of TDPL, marketing manager Manoj Kumar Tiwari alias Abhay Kumar Tiwari, and company employees Mohammad Usman and Mohammad Ebad.
Under a court order, these five individuals are being questioned during a five-day police remand. The investigation agency, with the assistance of Ranchi police, has conducted raids at two hotels located in different police station areas of the city. However, the official details regarding any recoveries made during these raids have not yet been disclosed. A case has been registered at the CID police station under case number 16/2026. The investigation is being carried out under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Jharkhand Competitive Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2023.
During the investigation, the CID has seized several digital devices and examination-related documents, including servers, computers, hard disks, laptops, and pen drives, from the JPSC headquarters and the offices of TDPL. Forensic analysis is underway to determine whether any tampering occurred in the OMR data or other digital records during the examination result preparation process.
The CID is also investigating how TDPL, which was blacklisted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) in 2025, was assigned the responsibility for JPSC examinations and the roles of various officials in this process.
