Madrid, October 23 (Udaipur Kiran) — European giants Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Chelsea recorded emphatic victories in their respective UEFA Champions League matches on Wednesday night, strengthening their positions in the group stage.
Real Madrid continued their impressive campaign with a 1–0 win over Juventus, taking their points tally to nine from three matches. The Spanish side dominated possession in the first half but failed to find the net despite several chances. Their best opportunity came just before half-time when Kylian Mbappé unleashed a powerful left-footed strike from inside the box, only to be denied by goalkeeper Di Gregorio’s brilliant reflex save in the 40th minute.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 57th minute as Jude Bellingham found the back of the net, giving Madrid a decisive lead that they maintained until the final whistle.
In another fixture, Liverpool ended their four-match losing streak with a commanding 5–1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park. Despite conceding first through Rasmus Kristensen in the 26th minute, the Reds bounced back strongly.
Hugo Ekitike equalised soon after, before Virgil van Dijk (39’) and Ibrahima Konaté (44’) scored from corners to put Liverpool ahead 3–1 at halftime. Cody Gakpo (66’) and Dominik Szoboszlai (70’) added two more goals in the second half to seal a convincing win for Arne Slot’s side.
Meanwhile, Chelsea produced a dominant display against Ajax, thrashing the Dutch side 5–1. Marc Guiu opened the scoring in the 18th minute, followed by Moisés Caicedo’s strike in the 27th minute.
Ajax briefly reduced the deficit through Wout Weghorst’s penalty in the 33rd minute, but Chelsea quickly restored control, leading 4–1 by halftime. Substitute Tyrique George added the fifth goal in the 48th minute, putting the result beyond doubt.
