Despite the rugged and mountainous terrain the work on four-laning of Jammu-Srinagar national highway is in full swing. Men and machines are working day and night to complete this project by 2021. From Jammu to Udhampur, this section is complete and giving a better ride to the commuters.
Last year,with the opening of Chenani-Nashri tunnel by the prime minister Narinder Modi, the road journey from Jammu to Srinagar has been reduced by two hours. With the completion of this project, road journey between Jammu and Srinagar will be reduced by five to six hours.
This project has brought happiness to the local people of this state, as on one hand they are getting employment opportunities in the construction activities while on the other hand they will get smooth and better roads. They say tourism activities will also get boost with the better road communication.
