Udaipur, August 5: The Central Government has approved 11 tourism development projects worth Rs 642 crore in Rajasthan to promote tourism at the global level. Among these, Udaipur has been included in the Heritage Trail Project, an initiative aimed at the restoration, beautification, and development of historically and culturally significant routes.
The information was shared by Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in the Lok Sabha in response to a question raised by Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat.
Centre Focusing on Diverse Tourism Segments
The Union Minister informed the House that the Ministry of Tourism has prepared national strategies for sustainable tourism, rural tourism, rural homestays, MICE tourism, adventure tourism, medical and wellness tourism, and eco-tourism. These strategies have been circulated to all state governments and Union Territory administrations for implementation.
He added that the Ministry is also promoting niche tourism segments, including wedding, wellness, cruise, coastal, rural, and spiritual tourism, through domestic and international promotional initiatives.
The Minister said that the primary responsibility for identifying and developing tourist destinations rests with the respective state governments and Union Territory administrations.
Projects Approved in Rajasthan
The Ministry has approved the following tourism projects in Rajasthan:
- Development of Sambhar Lake Town and other locations in Jaipur district under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme – Rs 50.01 crore
- Integrated development of Govind Dev Ji Temple (Jaipur), Khatu Shyam Ji (Sikar), and Nathdwara (Rajsamand) – Rs 75.80 crore
- Development of the Spiritual Circuit covering Churu (Salasar Balaji), Jaipur, Viratnagar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Mehandipur Balaji, and Chittorgarh – Rs 87.05 crore
- Heritage Trail Project covering Rajsamand, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Chittorgarh, Jaisalmer, Hanumangarh, Udaipur, Dholpur, Nagaur, and Tonk – Rs 70.61 crore
- Spiritual Experience Project at Keshorai Patan – Rs 21.65 crore
- Development works at Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Temple, Sikar – Rs 87.87 crore
- Development works at Shri Karni Mata Temple, Bikaner – Rs 22.58 crore
- Development of Malaseri Dungri, Bhilwara – Rs 48.73 crore
- Integrated development of Pushkar and Ajmer – Rs 32.64 crore
- Development of Nahargarh and surrounding areas – Rs 49.31 crore
- Development of Jal Mahal – Rs 96.61 crore
The inclusion of Udaipur in the Heritage Trail Project is expected to strengthen efforts for the preservation and promotion of the city’s historical and cultural heritage.
