New Delhi, August 5: During the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament, BJP MPs have accused the opposition of disrupting proceedings and criticized the Congress-supported state government over the JPPSC exam controversy in Jharkhand.
BJP MP Jagdambika Pal stated that the opposition has been creating a ruckus in Parliament without any solid reason for several days. He highlighted that students have been protesting for the past 13 days against alleged paper leaks and irregularities related to the JPPSC exam in Ranchi, but the state government has ignored their demands. According to him, the Chief Minister has yet to engage in dialogue with the protesting students.
Pal also noted that the opposition and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have remained silent on the students’ movement in Jharkhand. He emphasized that the central government has shown sensitivity towards issues concerning students, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior ministers discussing their demands and taking steps towards resolution. He accused the opposition of deliberately obstructing parliamentary proceedings and avoiding debate.
BJP MP Sushmita Dev responded to the opposition’s protests by stating that it is the responsibility of any MP or opposition leader to record their views within Parliament. She argued that discussing issues in the House is part of democratic tradition, as statements made in Parliament become part of the official record, allowing both the government and opposition to present their sides.
Dev urged the opposition to participate in debates if they are genuinely serious about their issues, suggesting that they avoid discussions because the ruling party also presents facts during such debates. She expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi for engaging with new MPs for nearly an hour, listening to their thoughts and concerns.
BJP MP Sanjay Seth made serious allegations against the state government regarding the ongoing student protests, stating that thousands of students have been sitting on a hunger strike at the Jaipal Singh Stadium in Ranchi for the past 13 days. He claimed that despite the protests occurring just a kilometer from the Chief Minister’s residence, no government representative had met with the students.
Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth accused the government of not allowing protesters to set up tarpaulins despite heavy rain and failing to provide basic facilities like electricity and toilets. He also claimed that serious irregularities have been reported in the JPPSC recruitment process and that a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry should be conducted into the alleged “land scam” related to the JPPSC exam. He stated that students and citizens of Jharkhand are demanding a fair investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Arun Govil criticized the opposition’s approach, stating that they only come to Parliament with placards and create chaos. He remarked that the opposition is attempting to disrupt proceedings instead of discussing important issues, which is not in line with parliamentary traditions.
