Udaipur, November 11 (Udaipur Kiran) — In a shocking incident, BJP leader Ramesh Inani (65) was shot dead in broad daylight in Chittorgarh on Saturday. The former BJP city minister (2019–2022) was attacked while travelling on his scooter when an unidentified assailant on a motorcycle, wearing a helmet, fired at him and fled the scene.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish Tripathi, Inani was shot twice — once in the back and once in the leg. He fell from his scooter immediately after the attack, as captured in CCTV footage. Locals rushed him to the Chittorgarh Government Hospital, but due to his critical condition, he was referred to Udaipur, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
SP Tripathi said the bike-borne shooter followed Inani’s scooter, overtook him, and then opened fire before escaping. “We are examining CCTV footage from the area and investigating all possible motives behind the attack. The accused will be caught soon,” he assured.
Ramesh Inani, a resident of Krishna Nagar, Chamti Kheda Road, Chittorgarh, ran a courier business under the name Inani Courier Service. The attack took place while he was travelling from his residence to his office located in Rana Sanga Market.
Police said Inani had earlier visited MLA Chandrabhansinh Aakya’s office around 10:30 am before heading home. The attack occurred shortly after he left for his office. Upon learning about the incident, MLA Aakya and other BJP leaders reached the spot.
The gruesome murder has sparked tension in the area, and police have intensified security while launching a manhunt to trace the shooter.
