Australian man found dead on roadside in Udaipur

Udaipur : Michael James O’Toole , a 59-year-old Australian tourist was found dead on roadside near a resort along lake Fatehsagar  here on Sunday morning. “ The man was a resident of Melbourne and had been in Udaipur since June 6” Chandra Purohit, SHO Ambamata police station told Udaipur Kiran.

The police was informed of the incident by the staff of 108 ambulance who spotted the body early morning. “Prima Facie it doesn’t seems to be an assualt or murder for loot as we found around 9 thousand rupees in Indian currency inside his wallet. There was a slip of  a hotel in Chandpole area where he had stayed some weeks ago, however, we have no clue where the man had been lived last” Purohit said. Police is clueless of the reasons behind the death as details would be only known once the autopsy is conducted. “ We have informed his family through the embassy and have shifted the body to the mortuary.

Once someone arrives from his side, only then the autopsy would be conducted and the reason for the death be known” the officer said. The police has found some injury marks on his lower back. His picture has been circulated among hotel and guest house owners in the area where tourist throng around mainly so as to get details of his last lodging, sources said.
