Patna, August 7: Three officials associated with the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) were injured in an attack near the Ratanpur overbridge in the Ara district of Bihar. Among the injured is the District Program Manager (DPM) Rahul Kumar.
According to police reports, the DPM and two other employees were returning from work in a vehicle when they were intercepted by individuals in another car near the overbridge on Thursday evening. The assailants overtook their vehicle and attacked them with sticks and rods, causing damage to the officials’ vehicle before fleeing the scene.
The sudden attack created panic in the area, prompting local residents to rush to the site; however, the attackers had already escaped. The injured officials were taken to Sadar Hospital for treatment, where sources indicated that the Block Program Manager and another employee sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical care.
Following the incident, employees and officials from the District Education Office gathered at the Muffasil police station, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack. The injured officials reported that they were ambushed by more than six individuals after 6 PM while returning from the office, suggesting that the assailants intended to kill them.
District Education Officer Manvendra Kumar Rai visited the police station and confirmed the attack on the DPM and two employees while they were returning from work. He expressed hope that the perpetrators would be quickly identified and apprehended. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
