Mumbai, September 5 (Udaipur Kiran) : Ashmita Bakshi is currently captivating audiences in the television series “108 Base Hospital – Uri,” where she plays the dual role of an army major and nurse, Anita Solanki. In a recent interview, she expressed her excitement about the show’s concept, which ultimately led her to accept the role.
Bakshi shared, “In this show, I portray a nurse who is also a major in the army. I have previously collaborated with the makers of this show, and they were casting for this particular character. I believe I was the last person they needed to finalize for the role. They called me in to discuss the character.”
She indicated that her character’s storyline will evolve throughout the series. “My character is quite compelling, and it will develop as the story unfolds. The most interesting aspect is that the show is completely different from typical daily soaps. This unique concept really excited me, and I decided to take it on,” she said.
Elaborating on her preparation for the role, Bakshi emphasized the importance of embodying the right body language for an army nurse and major. “During the reading sessions, we were instructed on how our posture and stance should be, and how we should interact with each other as army officers,” she explained.
Additionally, she mentioned undergoing training to follow protocols in an operating theatre and hospital setting. “We received this training before filming, so the makers ensured everything was well-organized,” she noted.
Coming from a family with a strong sports background, Bakshi found it easier to adopt the necessary army stance and body posture. “I belong to a sports family; my grandfather played hockey, and fitness is in my blood. Therefore, maintaining an army posture was somewhat easier for me. Being a professional dancer also contributed to my preparation,” she added.
Bakshi revealed that the show is inspired by a real army hospital in Srinagar, although the filming took place in Mumbai studios, with some portions shot in Kashmir. “The show draws from real experiences. While the characters are fictional, the stories are inspired by actual hospital experiences,” she concluded.
