Apple iPhone 15 and Samsung Galaxy S24 : 5G speed comparison in 15 countries

According to reports, Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S24, significantly exceeded the average 5G download speed in 7 out of 15 countries. In a study by internet speed analysis firm Ookla, Apple’s iPhone 15 series recorded the fastest 5G speeds in just one country.

However, the report notes that in some of the countries analyzed, the speed difference between the Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 devices is almost negligible.

The report also states that the S24 smartphone family recorded the lowest 5G multi-server latency in 10 out of 15 countries. Meanwhile, iPhone 15 devices had the highest 5G latency in 10 markets.

According to the report, the Samsung Galaxy S22 model had the lowest average 5G download speed in 8 countries. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23 series phones were the slowest of the four countries.

The Galaxy S24 series models now had the fastest 5G upload speeds in 13 of 15 countries. However, upload speeds were much slower than 5G download speeds, ranging from 11.83 Mbps to 66.52 Mbps. Meanwhile, only three countries had average 5G upload speeds of 50 Mbps or higher, including South Korea, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

How the Samsung Galaxy S24 series models outperformed the previous generation models

The report states that in some countries the difference in speed between different generations of devices is minimal. However, the Galaxy S24 had a significant speed advantage over its predecessor in markets like Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

It is also important to note that these speed test results do not mean that users in these regions need to update their smartphones immediately. The decision to upgrade depends on a variety of factors, including price, features, and performance.

The report notes that device performance metrics may vary depending on factors such as government and mobile operator investments in 5G infrastructure, spectrum allocation and the scale of 5G network deployment, all of which may contribute to these changes.
