Apple Introduces App Store ‘Win-Back Offers’ Allowing Developers to Prompt Customers to Re-Subscribe

Apple on Tuesday announced support for a new App Store feature that allows developers to encourage previous app users to re-sign up for a paid subscription. These so-called “win offers” allow app developers to offer discounts to previous users to convince them to purchase a subscription. Apple says these offers will be available on auto-renewing plans. The app developers have already started showing these offers to customers who have recently canceled their subscription.

According to information on Apple’s developer site, the new “Winback Offers” feature is intended to help developers target users who no longer subscribe to their app services. Apple says it can show former customers special offers that might encourage them to pay for a new subscription.

According to Apple, these offers are only available for auto-renewing subscriptions. Examples of these benefits include offering users the option to pay $9.99 for a six-month subscription, followed by an annual subscription for $39.99 that automatically renews after a promotional period.

Developers can now set these offers through App Store Connect, and Apple can define the eligibility criteria, the types of discounts offered, and the availability of these promotions based on the regions they serve.

After you set up a recovery offer, you may be asked to purchase a subscription at a lower price in the app or game, on the product page in the App Store, or through your subscription settings. Developers can also set up direct links that can be sent to customers via email or message.

Apple’s developer documentation states that customers will receive the benefits “this fall,” but it appears that the benefits are already available to some users. A Gadgets 360 employee used the Gentler Streak program: “What would you do if you stayed?” The company sent out a message asking customers to cancel the ongoing but canceled annual plan (worth Rs 10 lakh). to subscribe again. 899R instead of the usual Rs. Price 1499.
