Mumbai’s popular television show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC), hosted by Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, continues to be India’s most beloved quiz show. Beyond questions and prizes, the show has become a platform for inspiring stories and meaningful conversations with guests from various fields.
In a recent special cricket-themed episode, Indian women’s cricket team head coach Amol Majumdar shared memorable moments from his life and cricket career with host Amitabh Bachchan.
During the conversation, Majumdar spoke about how his father introduced him to cricket and how discipline, education, and cricketing values helped shape his journey. He made a special mention of late Indian cricket coach Ramakant Achrekar, whose influence remained permanent in his life. “There will be no one like him,” Majumdar said about his mentor.
Reflecting on his playing career, Majumdar shared, “I retired from cricket in 2014. I played in the Ranji Trophy for 20 years in total – 17 years for Mumbai and 4 years for other states like Assam and Andhra Pradesh. I also captained the Mumbai team. For this long career, I consider my father as my biggest inspiration. He not only taught me cricket but also showed me discipline and the right direction in life.”
The former cricketer also recalled his school days when he played alongside cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli. “Playing with Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli during school days is something I can never forget. They helped develop discipline and cricketing culture among many Mumbai players. I am grateful to them for this,” he said.
Before Majumdar’s appearance on KBC, actors Jaideep Ahlawat and Manoj Bajpayee from the web series ‘The Family Man’ had also visited the show to promote their series, engaging in entertaining conversations with Amitabh Bachchan.
The show continues to attract personalities from cricket, films, and web series, making it a versatile platform for both entertainment and meaningful discussions.
