New Delhi, August 12: BJP spokesperson RP Singh has launched a sharp attack on the opposition regarding the ongoing protests by students in Jharkhand, the alleged police brutality, and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s challenge from Union Minister Kiren Rijiju. Singh emphasized that the Home Minister is prepared to respond to questions in Parliament, while accusing Rahul Gandhi of avoiding discussions.
Singh stated that Kiren Rijiju has made it clear that the Home Minister is ready to answer questions raised in Parliament. He criticized Rahul Gandhi for not having the courage to face issues in the House, suggesting that he is evading parliamentary discussions. “When the lion roars, the jackals flee,” Singh remarked, indicating that Rahul Gandhi does not believe in the spirit of parliamentary democracy and is attempting to evade confrontation.
Regarding the student protests in Jharkhand, Singh accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s government of failing to address the dissatisfaction among students concerning job opportunities and recruitment issues. He mentioned allegations of students paying between 50 lakhs to one crore rupees for a single job, asserting that the government is not responding to these claims. Singh noted that students are demanding a CBI inquiry, but the government is avoiding this request. “You manage your state, and Modi ji will manage the country,” he added.
Following the protests, Singh commented on the BJP’s call for a shutdown, stating that while students demonstrated peacefully, they were allegedly met with brutal treatment. He described the security measures at the protest site as excessive, likening them to those used at the India-Pakistan border. Although students crossed these barriers, they returned later upon the appeal of their leaders, only to face police action again.
Singh also addressed a statement from Congress leader and state minister Ansari, who denied the occurrence of police brutality. He pointed out that images of the actions taken against students have surfaced on various news channels, contradicting the government’s denial. Singh asserted that the Hemant Soren government has crossed all limits in this matter.
On the topic of the song “Vande Mataram,” Singh criticized SP leader Ramjeelal Suman’s comments, stating that the song is deeply connected to India’s freedom struggle and holds significant importance. He urged Suman to understand the value of the sacrifices made during the independence movement.
In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for every household to hoist the national flag by August 15, Singh highlighted that this initiative is supported by the government and reflects a spirit of patriotism and national unity. He encouraged citizens to actively participate in this campaign, aiming to strengthen respect for the national flag and national sentiment across the country.
Regarding the ongoing disruptions in Parliament, Singh remarked that BSP leader Mayawati’s comments apply more to Congress. He reiterated that the BJP is ready to discuss all issues in Parliament and called on the opposition to engage in discussions rather than obstruct proceedings. “Parliament is a platform for democratic dialogue, and all significant issues should be debated,” he concluded.
