Ayodhya, August 12: Ajay Rai, the President of the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh, launched a sharp attack on the state government and the BJP during his visit to Ayodhya on Wednesday. He raised concerns over the role of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the management of the Ram Temple, stating that the involvement of saints and religious leaders should be prioritized over administrative officials in the holy city of Ayodhya.
Rai accused the authorities of turning the Ram Temple into a source of income rather than a center of faith. Speaking to reporters at the Ayodhya airport, he also highlighted alleged thefts related to donations at the temple. He dismissed the actions taken so far as mere formalities, asserting that strict action should be taken against those accused of irregularities in the counting of donations or involvement in the entire matter.
Demanding the arrest of the guilty parties, Rai emphasized that mere investigations are not enough. He questioned the management of the temple, stating that Ayodhya is not just a religious site but a center of faith for millions. Therefore, the involvement of saints and religious leaders in its management is essential. The arrangements should respect the dignity and traditions of the holy city.
Rai also raised concerns regarding the actions of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate the donation-related issues. He insisted that if serious accusations are made against individuals, effective legal action against the guilty should accompany the investigation. He called for a fair inquiry to bring the culprits to light.
Regarding the upcoming assembly elections, Rai mentioned that issues like law and order, unemployment, inflation, the future of youth, and management at religious sites will be prominent. He claimed that people in the state are connecting with Congress and Rahul Gandhi, and this will reflect in the upcoming elections.
Targeting the BJP and RSS, Rai alleged that their actions are affecting the sanctity and religious character of Ayodhya, although he did not provide specific evidence to support his claims. He also criticized the government on law and order issues, referencing the recent murder of a Brahmin youth in Gorakhpur, stating that criminals have become emboldened, raising concerns about public safety. He urged the government to ensure accountability regarding law and order.
Rai’s statements are seen as part of the Congress party’s strategy to raise issues related to temples, law and order, and employment ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. Meanwhile, there has been no immediate response from the BJP regarding Rai’s allegations.
