AIMIMs Waris Pathan Advocates for Waqf Property Protection and Election Strategy

Mumbai, October 5 (Udaipur Kiran) : Waris Pathan, the national spokesperson for the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has taken a firm stance on the ongoing controversy surrounding the Khilafat House in Mumbai. On October 5, he sent a notice to the Waqf Board, asserting that the property is Waqf land and demanding a halt to construction activities being carried out by private builders.

Pathan stated that the Khilafat House has been embroiled in disputes recently, with claims that it belongs to a trust. However, he insists that it is indeed Waqf property, a position supported by the Waqf Board’s chairman, who confirmed its registration in the Maharashtra Gazette. He pointed out that the Supreme Court has also recognized it as Waqf property. Despite this, construction has proceeded without obtaining the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Waqf Board. Pathan noted that they had locked the premises to prevent further work until a court ruling is made.

In addition to the property issue, Pathan discussed the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, expressing AIMIM’s readiness to form an alliance to challenge the BJP. He emphasized that the party aims to prevent a third consecutive term for a government aligned with Hindutva ideology. While he acknowledged discussions about a coalition, he criticized the lack of initiative from potential allies, stating that AIMIM is prepared to contest the elections independently.

Pathan asserted that their fight is about representation and equality for Muslims, rejecting any labels of being a “B-team.” He expressed confidence in their ability to secure victory, stating, “We are fighting for our rights, and we believe we will win.”

He also addressed the dire situation facing farmers amidst drought conditions, calling for the cancellation of their debts. With many farmers struggling and some having taken drastic measures, he criticized the government for its misplaced priorities, accusing it of focusing on political maneuvering rather than addressing the farmers’ plight.
