New Delhi, October 16 (Udaipur Kiran): Indian cricketers Abhishek Sharma and Smriti Mandhana have been named the ICC Players of the Month for September 2025. Abhishek bagged the honour in the men’s category, while Smriti received it in the women’s category for their outstanding performances on the international stage.

Abhishek Sharma delivered a remarkable performance in the Asia Cup T20I Tournament, scoring 314 runs in seven matches at an average of 44.85 and a strike rate of 200. His explosive batting earned him the Player of the Tournament title and propelled him to a career-best 931 rating points in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings — the highest ever achieved by an Indian. He edged past teammate Kuldeep Yadav and Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett to clinch the award.
Expressing his gratitude, Abhishek said, “Winning this award feels amazing. I’m glad to have contributed in crucial matches for my team. Our team culture and mindset have been incredible, helping us succeed even in tough situations. I’m thankful to the team management and all my teammates for their support.”
On the women’s side, Smriti Mandhana, India’s vice-captain, shone brilliantly in the home ODI series against Australia, amassing 308 runs across three innings with scores of 58, 117, and 125. She averaged 77 and maintained a striking 135.68 strike rate. In the third ODI, Mandhana set a new record for the fastest century by an Indian woman, reaching the milestone in just 50 balls. She beat Tazmin Brits of South Africa and Sidra Ameen of Pakistan to secure the honour.
Reacting to her achievement, Smriti said, “It’s a great honour to receive the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award. It motivates me to keep improving and contributing to the team’s success. This recognition is a reflection of our collective team effort and belief. My focus remains on performing for India and helping the team win.”
The winners were selected based on votes from global fans and an expert panel comprising former international cricketers and media representatives.
