Udaipur : Backed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), farmers under the flagship of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh protested vehemently outside the divisional commissioner’s office here on Monday under the Mahapadav (sit-in) program. On the fifth day, 82 farmers from the entire division offered voluntary arrest who were transported to some kilometers away and released later. The farmers body have been demanding loan waiver, increase in minimum support price, bonus for farmers, installation of electronic balance in state mandis and subsidy on crop insurance.
In the afternoon, large number of peasants gathered outside the commissionerate and tried to get in. When cops deterred them, two of the farmers managed to creep inside and they climbed over the rooftop. Later police had to use slight force to disperse the crowd.
“ There will be a statewide closure of Krishi Mandis from Tuesday onwards followed by Nagar Bandh and Gram Bandhs in the coming days” Sohanlal Anjana, Yuva Pramukh from Chittorgarh informed.
