Udaipur (Udaipur Kiran): A 66-year-old male patient has been successfully treated at the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences, Umarda.

Chairman Ashish Agrawal said the patient had been suffering from respiratory problems for the past two months and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. During investigations, a chest X-ray and HRCT scan revealed massive pleural effusion in the left lung, which had led to complete collapse of the lung.
Considering the patient’s critical condition, doctors opted for a minimally invasive thoracoscopy procedure instead of conventional open thoracic surgery, Agrawal said. This advanced technique helped avoid prolonged hospital and ICU stay, higher costs, and possible complications. During the procedure, thick septations were successfully removed using advanced thoracoscopic techniques with endoknife cautery, allowing the lung to re-expand.
He added that the patient remained stable after the procedure and no complications were observed. Agrawal congratulated the faculty members of the Respiratory Medicine Department—Dr Sanidhya Tak, Dr Karanraj Singhal, Dr Mayur Vikram Devaraj, Dr Raju Kottakota, and Dr Anirudh—along with all resident doctors and the bronchoscopy team for the successful treatment.
