
The victims were a part of the Ganesh visarjan procession and few children were seated on a trolley that carried the Ganesh idol as well as the generator set to power the music system. People were dancing to the loud music when suddenly the explosion took place when a fiery particle fell on a bottle that was in the hands of a youth walking with the procession. Ten people including 3 girls and a boy have reportedly sustained serious burn injuries who have been admitted in the Mahatma Gandhi hospital while others were treated at Ghatol hospital.
The procession was going towards Baroda river and the idol was kept in a tractor trolley with many kids sitting inside the vehicle. One of the youth was carrying a bottle filled with petro-diesel fuel mixture for the generator which exploded. The blast caused a commotion with people running helter-skelter to save themselves.
