Meta-owned WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to create a custom password for their locked chats. This feature is under development and will be available in a future update of the app.

According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp developments, users will be able to create a secret code for their locked chats by going to a new page in the app. Entering the secret code will allow users to easily find locked chats, even in the search bar of the app. Configuring a secret code will also allow users to lock chats even from companion devices.
WhatsApp recommends using a word or simple emoji for quick access when creating a secret code.
In addition to the secret code creation feature, WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to synchronize chat locks across all of their linked devices. This will significantly improve the user experience, as users will no longer have to lock their chats manually on each device.
The secret code creation feature for locked chats with support for linked devices is under development and will be available in a future update of the app.
