WhatsApp May Soon Let All Users Add a Cover Photo Like Facebook and LinkedIn
New Delhi, October 29 (Udaipur Kiran). WhatsApp users might soon be able to personalise their profiles further, as the Meta-owned messaging platform is reportedly developing a cover photo feature similar to those available on Facebook and LinkedIn.

According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the company is working on a new option that will allow users to upload a custom cover photo that appears at the top of their profile. Until now, this feature has been exclusive to WhatsApp Business accounts, which first introduced it back in 2022.
Once rolled out, users will be able to select an image from their profile settings and set it as their cover photo. A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows the interface for choosing or changing the cover image — resembling layouts already seen on other social networking platforms.
WhatsApp is also expected to introduce new privacy controls for the cover photo, giving users the ability to decide who can view it. The visibility options under testing include Everyone, My Contacts, and Nobody, similar to those available for Profile Photos and Status updates.
-
Everyone: The cover photo will be visible to all WhatsApp users, including those not in your contacts.
-
My Contacts: Only people saved in your contact list will see the cover image.
-
Nobody: The cover photo will remain hidden from everyone.
The feature is currently being developed for WhatsApp beta version 2.25.32.2 on Android and is being rolled out through the Google Play Beta Program. However, since it is still under development, it is not yet visible or usable even for beta testers.
With this update, WhatsApp aims to offer greater profile customisation and visual expression for its users — extending a feature that was once limited to businesses. Once launched, it will bring WhatsApp profiles closer to the look and feel of popular social platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn.
