WhatsApp Begins Testing Camera Zoom Control Feature, Sticker Creation Shortcuts

WhatsApp is rolling out two new features for iOS beta testers, adding new functionality to the popular messaging platform. The former makes it much easier to zoom when using WhatsApp’s in-app camera, and the latter allows users to quickly create new stickers from their camera roll and more via new shortcuts, as well as generate meta stickers using artificial intelligence. Both features will be available to all iOS and Android smartphone users.

The feature tracker WABetaInfo has discovered a new zoom control function in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS 24.9.10.75. Users who signed up for the WhatsApp for iOS beta through TestFlight can now update to the latest version and gain access to the new camera zoom control buttons. This allows you to switch between different zoom options when clicking pictures or recording videos on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp currently allows users to zoom in and out of the viewfinder or hold the shutter button and swipe up when using the in-app camera. Both options are not as easy or intuitive as using the dedicated zoom button, but will be available to all users in the future.

According to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned messaging service introduced another feature in the WhatsApp beta version of the iOS 24.9.10.74 update for beta testers earlier this week. Users who have this version installed will see shortcuts to create and use AI when the sticker selection panel is open in WhatsApp.

The first shortcut allows users to use images from their camera roll to create new WhatsApp stickers using the app’s built-in sticker editor. Gadget 360 can confirm that this option is also available for some users of the stable version of WhatsApp. Meanwhile, the “Use Artificial Intelligence” link allows users to generate labels using Meta Artificial Intelligence, the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) service.

Another feature recently seen in the WhatsApp beta is the new “Recently Online” list, which, as the name suggests, lists contacts who were previously active in the app. Meanwhile, the service recently updated its iOS color palette to include green buttons and text throughout the app. The app may eventually add support for alternative color accents, which were first spotted during development in January.
