Udaipur : The conventional coaches in the weekly Udaipur-Shalimar express will soon be replaced with the high tech LHB (Linke Hoffman Busch) coaches by the Ajmer division of the North Western Railway. Presently, two trains ferrying here Ananya Express and Hamsafar Express have these modern coaches. LHB coaches are anti-telescopic and they do not penetrate into the adjacent coaches in case of accidents. These coaches are made of stainless steel and their weight per meter is less than the ICF (Integral Coach Factory) coach and is easier to haul. According to railway sources, the interiors are build of aluminium and have an attractive look. The LHB coaches are equipped with ‘controlled discharge toilet system’ and Bio-toilets, which are environmental friendly. After being replaced with the ICF ones, Udaipur-Shalimar express would have a total of 16 LHB coaches including one 2nd AC, 2 third ACs, 7 sleeper class, 4 ordinary and 2 power cars in it. The coaches would be replaced by May 20, authorities said.
