Mumbai, March 1: Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff is renowned for his incredible action, dance, and fitness skills. However, few are aware that he received a ‘signing amount’ right at the time of his birth. Noted filmmaker Subhash Ghai visited shortly after Tiger’s birth and placed ₹101 in his hand, promising that he would make him a hero one day.
Although time has unfolded a different story, this anecdote remains one of the most cherished moments of Tiger’s life. Born on March 2, 1990, in Mumbai, Tiger’s real name is Jai Hemant Shroff. He is the son of Bollywood veteran actor Jackie Shroff and film producer Ayesha Shroff. Known for his agility in childhood, he was affectionately nicknamed ‘Tiger’ at home, a name that eventually became his identity.
When Tiger was born, Subhash Ghai came to see him. Ghai had launched Jackie Shroff as a lead actor in the film ‘Hero.’ Upon seeing Tiger, he gifted ₹101 as a signing amount, declaring that he would make Tiger a hero when he grew up. However, many years passed without Ghai making a film with Tiger, and it was producer Sajid Nadiadwala who eventually gave him his big break.
Tiger made his Bollywood debut in 2014 with the film ‘Heropanti,’ which received acclaim for his action and dance performances. The film was a box office success, earning Tiger the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He subsequently appeared in films like ‘Baaghi,’ ‘A Flying Jatt,’ ‘Munna Michael,’ and ‘Student of the Year 2.’ While some of these films were successful, others did not fare well at the box office.
The film ‘War,’ released in 2019, marked a significant hit in Tiger’s career. Co-starring Hrithik Roshan, whom Tiger considers his idol, ‘War’ achieved impressive box office earnings and elevated Tiger’s popularity to new heights.
Despite working in a limited number of films, Tiger has received numerous accolades for his debut film, including Filmfare and IIFA awards, establishing him as one of the most talked-about action stars of his generation.
