Houston, June 24: Cristiano Ronaldo has etched his name in football history by becoming the first player to score in six different FIFA World Cup editions. The Portuguese captain achieved this remarkable feat during Portugal’s Group K match against Uzbekistan at the Houston Stadium on June 23.
Just six minutes into the match, the 41-year-old forward found the back of the net, giving his team an early lead. Ronaldo converted a low pass from João Cancelo, striking the ball from inside the six-yard box.
This goal marks yet another memorable moment in Ronaldo’s illustrious international career. Since making his World Cup debut at the age of 21 in Germany in 2006, he has scored in every tournament he has participated in: 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, and now 2026.
Ronaldo scored once during Portugal’s journey to the semifinals in 2006 and added a goal in both the 2010 and 2014 editions. His most successful World Cup campaign came in 2018 in Russia, where he netted four goals, followed by another goal in Qatar four years later as Portugal reached the quarter-finals.
Despite facing criticism after a poor performance in Portugal’s opening match against the DR Congo, Ronaldo responded emphatically by scoring a record-breaking goal on the grandest stage of world football.
