Rinku Singh Shines with Century as Uttar Pradesh Crushes Chandigarh

Rinku Singh secured his place in the Indian team for the World Cup due to his consistent outstanding performance in domestic cricket. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Chandigarh on December 26, Rinku delivered an impressive unbeaten innings of 106 runs, maintaining a striking strike rate of 176.67.

In the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, a Group B clash took place between Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh at the Rajkot ground. Batting first, Uttar Pradesh posted a huge total of 367 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Captain Rinku Singh played a pivotal role in guiding the team to this strong position, excelling as a hard-hitting finisher.

When Rinku came to the crease, Uttar Pradesh had scored 170 runs in 31.2 overs. He took on the responsibility of accelerating the scoring rate from one end, receiving valuable support from Aryan Juyal. Together, the duo added 134 runs for the fourth wicket. Aryan Juyal was dismissed after scoring 134 runs, while Rinku continued to lead the charge, pushing the team’s total beyond 350.

Rinku Singh’s unbeaten 106-run innings included 11 fours and 4 sixes, showcasing his aggressive approach with a strike rate of 176.67. Uttar Pradesh set a mammoth target of 368 runs for Chandigarh, and then bowled out the opposition for just 140 runs in 29.3 overs. Leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari was instrumental in restricting Chandigarh, taking 4 wickets for 29 runs in 7 overs.

This comprehensive victory placed Uttar Pradesh at the top of Group B after two matches, having won both with a net run rate of 3.110. Uttar Pradesh’s next fixture is scheduled against Baroda on December 29.
