The investment journey of Reliance Industries, which began in 1977, has shown a remarkable return for investors. A ₹1,000 investment in the company’s IPO is expected to grow to approximately ₹53 lakh by 2026, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.56%.

The Jio Platforms IPO, which was oversubscribed 22 times, is set to list on October 28, 2026. This follows a trend established by Reliance Industries, which experienced strong demand for its initial offering back in 1977.

The IPO of Reliance Textile Industries raised ₹2.82 crore at ₹10 per share, with shares listing at a premium of ₹17 to ₹18, leading to significant gains for early investors. Since then, Reliance has diversified into sectors such as oil refining, petrochemicals, retail, and telecommunications.

Over the years, investors have benefitted from six bonus issues, amplifying returns from the initial 100 shares to 4,096 shares by the end of October 2026. Bonuses and other factors have greatly increased the value of the initial investment.

In addition to stock growth, Reliance has regularly issued dividends, further enriching its shareholders. However, the investment journey has faced challenges, including market fluctuations during the 2008 global financial crisis and a recent downturn in 2026, when shares fell nearly 24% amid rising crude oil prices.

Analysts recommend a long-term investment strategy for the newly listed Jio Platforms, citing its dominant market position and strong growth potential. The company served 524.4 million customers as of March 2026 and has established itself as a major player in India’s digital services and telecommunications.

Narendra Solanki, Head of Research at Anand Rathi Shares, emphasized Jio Platforms’ technology and market leadership, stating, “The firm’s robust compounding potential justifies a definitive buy-and-hold strategy for long-term wealth creation.”
