Jaipur, March 10 – Weather Set for a Shift During Holi Celebrations As Rajasthan gears up for Holi, the state’s weather is expected to take a slight turn, bringing a mix of increasing temperatures and possible light rainfall in select regions. According to meteorologists, a Western Disturbance could bring cloud cover and drizzle in parts of Bikaner division, while most areas continue to experience rising temperatures.

On Sunday, Barmer recorded a scorching high of 39.4°C, nearly touching the 40-degree mark, forcing residents in Western Rajasthan to switch on coolers and fans earlier than expected.
Temperature Soars Across the State
Several cities in Rajasthan are already experiencing mid-summer-like conditions, with temperatures soaring past 35°C in multiple locations. Key recorded temperatures on Sunday include:
- Barmer – 39.4°C

Western Disturbance Brings Cloud Cover but Limited Rainfall
Despite the intense heat, a Western Disturbance is expected to bring some relief in certain areas. Cloud formation was observed over Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Barmer on Sunday evening. However, due to low moisture levels and high-altitude clouds, no significant rainfall was recorded.
According to the Meteorological Department, parts of Bikaner division, including Bikaner, Churu, and Nagaur, might witness light drizzle or isolated rainfall during Holi celebrations. However, these showers will be brief and scattered, bringing only temporary relief from the soaring heat.
Rising Night Temperatures Indicate Intensifying Heatwave
Not only are daytime temperatures climbing, but nighttime temperatures are also increasing steadily, signaling the onset of prolonged summer conditions. The recorded minimum temperatures on Sunday night were:
- Barmer – 22.1°C
- Phalodi – 21.2°C
- Jaisalmer – 17.3°C
- Sikar – 17.5°C
- Jaipur – 18.2°C
- Bikaner – 17.5°C
Meteorologists predict that temperatures will continue to rise in the coming days, making the heat more intense and widespread across Rajasthan.
