Rajasthan Royals Triumph Over Mumbai Indians in Rain-Affected IPL Match

Guwahati, April 8: Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured a 27-run victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 13th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which was affected by rain. This win marks RR’s third consecutive victory this season, propelling them to the top of the points table, while MI, currently in seventh place, faced their second defeat.

Due to rain, the first ball was bowled at 10:10 PM, with a reduction of 9 overs for each side. Batting first after losing the toss, Rajasthan Royals scored 150 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted 11 overs. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal formed a crucial partnership of 80 runs with Vaibhav Suryaanshi in just 5 overs.

Vaibhav scored 39 runs off 14 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 1 four before being dismissed. Dhruv Jurel, who came in at number three, could only add 2 runs to the total. RR lost 2 wickets for 84 runs, but Jaiswal and captain Riyan Parag added 37 runs for the third wicket in 19 balls. Riyan scored 20 runs off 10 balls, including 3 boundaries. Jaiswal then partnered with Shimron Hetmyer to add an unbeaten 29 runs for the fourth wicket, leading the team to a total of 150/3.

Jaiswal remained not out at 77 runs off 32 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 10 fours, while Hetmyer contributed 6 runs off 7 balls. For MI, Gajendra took 2 wickets for 21 runs, and Shardul Thakur claimed 1 wicket.

In response, Mumbai Indians managed only 123 runs, losing 9 wickets in their 11 overs. They lost their first wicket, Ryan Rickelton (8), on the last ball of the first over, having scored just 10 runs. Rohit Sharma (5) and Suryakumar Yadav (6) could only add 10 runs for the second wicket.

MI continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, with 5 wickets down for just 46 runs. Sherfane Rutherford and Naman Dheer then put together a partnership of 47 runs for the sixth wicket in 17 balls, taking the score to 93. However, once that partnership was broken, MI struggled again. Naman and Rutherford both scored 25 runs, but it was not enough to secure a win. For RR, Nandre Burger, Sandeep Sharma, and Ravi Bishnoi each took 2 wickets, while Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande claimed 1 wicket each.
