Jaipur, 13 November (Udaipur Kiran): The Rajasthan High Court has stayed the implementation of a Single Bench order that directed age relaxation for candidates who appeared in the SI Recruitment 2021—an exam affected by a paper leak. The Division Bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice B.S. Sandhu, passed the order while allowing the state government’s appeal.

During the hearing, Advocate General Rajendra Prasad argued that the Single Bench was required to decide only whether candidates from the 2021 recruitment should get age relaxation in the 2025 recruitment. However, the Bench noted that the Single Bench went beyond this point and made observations about political pressure, caste-based vote groups, and international media reports—remarks that were neither argued by any party nor requested in the petition.
The Division Bench observed that such comments were unnecessary. It also recorded that even the Supreme Court has held that these candidates cannot be given age relaxation. Considering these points, the Bench stayed the operation of the earlier order.
In October, the Single Bench had disposed of 29 petitions related to age relaxation and asked the state government to take a decision within eight weeks, along with making strong comments against the government.
