Rajasthan ACB Arrests Agricultural Officer for Bribery

Jaipur, May 6: The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Anandilal Meena, the Joint Director of Agricultural Extension in Baran district, on Wednesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹8,000. The ACB team caught the accused red-handed after setting up a planned trap.

According to ACB officials, the action was taken following written complaints from two complainants on May 4. The complainants alleged that the officer was demanding ₹5,000 from each vendor selling agricultural materials such as fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides. This bribe was sought in exchange for verifying stock registers, a mandatory administrative process for their business operations.

Taking the complaint seriously, the ACB initiated a confidential verification process on May 5, during which the allegations were found to be true. Investigators confirmed that the accused had already received ₹2,000 as partial payment from one complainant and was demanding the remaining ₹3,000. Subsequently, the ACB team, under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General Omprakash Meena from the Kota range, set the trap on Wednesday.

The operation was led by Additional Superintendent of Police Kalu Ram Verma and executed by a team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Premchand. During the operation, the officer was caught red-handed receiving ₹5,000 from one complainant and ₹3,000 from another. Senior ACB officials confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Further inquiries are ongoing to determine if others were involved or if similar demands were made from other vendors in the district. The investigation is being monitored by senior officials, including Additional Director General Smita Srivastava and Inspector General S. Parimala.
