New Delhi, November 8 (Udaipur Kiran): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, today, where he will flag off four new Vande Bharat Express trains. These new trains are expected to reduce travel time, enhance regional connectivity, and boost tourism and trade across several states. According to an official release, this marks another significant step in expanding India’s modern rail infrastructure.
The Prime Minister’s visit is scheduled around 8:15 AM. During his visit, he will inaugurate the new Vande Bharat trains, which reflect his vision of providing citizens with faster, smoother, and more comfortable travel through world-class rail services.
The newly launched Vande Bharat Express routes are: Varanasi–Khajuraho, Lucknow–Saharanpur, Firozpur–Delhi, and Ernakulam–Bengaluru.
The Varanasi–Khajuraho Vande Bharat will save nearly two hours and forty minutes compared to the existing trains. It will connect some of India’s most iconic spiritual and cultural destinations, including Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Khajuraho — the latter being a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Lucknow–Saharanpur Vande Bharat will complete its journey in about seven hours and forty-five minutes, cutting travel time by roughly one hour. The train will benefit passengers from Lucknow, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Bijnor, and Saharanpur, while also improving access to Haridwar via Roorkee. It is expected to play a key role in strengthening connectivity and promoting regional development in central and western Uttar Pradesh.
The Firozpur–Delhi Vande Bharat will become the fastest train on this route, completing its journey in just six hours and forty minutes. It will enhance connectivity between the national capital and major Punjab cities such as Firozpur, Bathinda, and Patiala, while boosting trade, tourism, and employment opportunities.
In South India, the Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat will cut travel time by more than two hours, completing the journey in eight hours and forty minutes. The train will connect key IT and commercial hubs and promote economic activities and tourism between Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
