Vienna, July 10 (Udaipur Kiran) – After completing his two-day visit to Russia, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Austria last night. PM Modi received an extraordinary welcome in the Austrian capital. Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer hosted a dinner in honor of Prime Minister Modi, during which a picture of the two leaders embracing was released. PM Modi expressed that the ties between New Delhi and Vienna would strengthen further. He shared some ‘word pictures’ of this visit on his X handle.
Chancellor Nehammer stated that it was a pleasure and honor to welcome Prime Minister Modi. He looked forward to political and economic discussions. Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal mentioned on X that the India-Austria partnership has reached a significant milestone. Prime Minister Modi and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer had a private conversation, marking their first meeting. The discussion focused on realizing the full potential of bilateral partnership.
Jaiswal highlighted that both nations are celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, and this important visit will provide new momentum to India-Austria relations. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi will meet the President of the Republic of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, and hold talks with Chancellor Nehammer. The Prime Minister and the Chancellor will also address business leaders from India and Austria.
During his visit to Vienna, Prime Minister Modi met with members of the Indian community residing in Austria and inquired about their well-being. PM Modi greeted everyone with folded hands, accompanied by Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer.
Earlier in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin honored Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Russia’s highest national award, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, in a special ceremony held at the Kremlin’s St. Andrew Hall. The award was announced in 2019.
Upon receiving the award, Prime Minister Modi dedicated it to the people of India and the traditional bond of friendship between India and Russia. He noted that this honor reflects the special and privileged strategic partnership between the two nations. The award was established 300 years ago, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first Indian leader to receive this recognition.
