Nursing Officer Laxmi Solanki Celebrates Her Birthday by Planting Seed Balls in Udaipur Hills, Inspires Eco-Consciousness

Udaipur, June 8 — At a time when birthdays are often marked with grand parties, social media posts, and elaborate celebrations, Udaipur’s nursing officer Laxmi Solanki chose to celebrate hers by giving back to nature. Turning her special day into a green mission, she ventured into the barren hills around the city and threw over 1,000 seed balls made of soil, manure, and fruit-bearing tree seeds, hoping that the upcoming monsoon will nurture them into lush greenery.

A Green Celebration with a Purpose

Under the banner of “Bijo Utsav – Breathe for Earth”, an initiative by the environmentally conscious Haveli Parivar, Laxmi Solanki decided to dedicate her birthday to Mother Earth. The campaign encourages people to celebrate personal milestones by taking positive action for the environment.

Dr. Sanjay Nagda and Pradyuman Singh Rathore from Haveli Parivar highlighted how Laxmi’s choice sets a powerful example in contrast to conventional birthday celebrations. “While most people today associate birthdays with cakes, trends, and parties, Laxmi’s act sends a message of healing — not just for ourselves, but for the Earth,” they said.

Healing Beyond Humans

“As a health worker, I’ve always focused on human well-being. But this year, I realized that the Earth needs healing too,” said Laxmi Solanki. “This birthday wasn’t just mine; it was also a tribute to Mother Nature.”

The seed balls were strategically placed in eroded and barren areas of the hills, where they can sprout during the rains and eventually grow into trees. The initiative is designed to increase green cover in the region and raise awareness among youth about sustainable practices.

Community Support and Call to Action

Laxmi’s family was closely involved in the activity, with her father, Lalit Solanki, urging the youth of Udaipur to actively participate in such environmental missions. He emphasized that true happiness lies in nurturing nature and securing a livable future for the coming generations.

Advocate Manju Solanki, along with her peers, lauded the efforts of local youth who continue to work tirelessly in the summer heat for ecological restoration. “Small actions like these lead to big changes,” she said, “and they lay the foundation for a greener, better tomorrow.”
