Ajmer, December 30 : The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has made significant adjustments to the upcoming REET-2024 examination, following the state government’s decision to rescind nine newly created districts. Candidates from these discontinued districts will now be given the opportunity to update their home district preferences for the exam. For the first time, REET centers will be established in all 41 existing districts, with no centers in the abolished districts.
Streamlining Examination Logistics
RBSE Secretary and REET Coordinator Kailash Chandra Sharma announced that female candidates would be allotted centers in their home districts to the extent possible. Efforts are also being made to allocate home districts to male candidates, with nearby districts serving as alternatives where necessary. To address concerns, a correction window will be provided for candidates to update their district preferences.
The district collectors and chief district education officers have been asked to submit a list of examination centers by January 5. With Rajasthan now officially having 41 districts, the REET exam will be conducted in these districts only.
Application Statistics and Exam Format
As of now, REET has received applications for:
- Level 1: 66,662 candidates
- Level 2: 160,395 candidates
- Both Levels: 19,620 candidates
This brings the total to approximately 2.5 lakh candidates. The number of centers will be determined based on the final application tally.
Exam Timings
- First Shift: 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM
- Second Shift: 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Innovative Measures for Candidate Convenience
RBSE has introduced several enhancements to streamline the application and examination process:
- Segmented Application Forms: Candidates can now save their progress across five segments of the form, reducing potential errors and inconvenience.
- Revised OMR Sheets:
- Candidates must choose from five options instead of four for each question.
- Failure to select an option will result in negative marking.
- Any candidate leaving more than 10% of answers blank will be disqualified.
- Expanded Eligibility: For the first time, candidates in their first year of B.Ed or D.El.Ed are eligible to appear, in addition to those in their final year or those who have completed the programs.
Shorter Preparation Window
Candidates have less preparation time for REET-2024 compared to previous years:
- Application Period: December 16, 2023, to January 15, 2024
- Exam Date: February 27, 2024
- Time Available: 43 days post-application deadline
In comparison:
- REET 2022 offered a 70-day preparation window.
- REET 2021 and 2017 provided 229 and 72 days, respectively.
Security and District-Level Committees
To ensure the integrity of the examination process:
- Exam papers will be securely stored in treasury offices near exam centers under double-lock systems and constant security. Temporary treasuries will be set up where no official treasury exists.
- District committees, chaired by district collectors and comprising 10 members, have been formed to oversee smooth execution.
