Udaipur, July 18: A one-day national conference on Nuclear Medicine and Prostate Cancer was organised at the American International Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Udaipur. The event brought together 72 cancer specialists from across the country to discuss the latest advancements in prostate cancer diagnosis, treatment and radionuclide therapy.

The conference was inaugurated by Vinay Joshi and Surbhi Porwal. Addressing the gathering, they highlighted the importance of emerging technologies in cancer treatment and described such scientific forums as valuable opportunities for knowledge sharing among medical professionals.
Experts Share Latest Developments
The keynote speakers included Kanhaiyalal, Tekchand, Sameem and Rajendra.
The experts shared their experiences and insights on emerging nuclear medicine technologies and recent developments in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
Discussions focused on the use of PSMA PET-CT for precise prostate cancer detection, the role of biopsy, advances in radiation therapy and targeted treatment through radionuclide therapy. Specialists explained that PSMA-based imaging can identify prostate cancer even at early and microscopic stages, increasing the chances of successful treatment.
The conference also featured presentations on modern PET-CT techniques using a gallium generator. Experts noted that the technology can significantly improve the accuracy of prostate cancer diagnosis and help ensure timely treatment for patients.
Importance of Follow-Up Monitoring
Participants also discussed the role of PSMA PET-CT in monitoring patients after treatment. Experts stated that the technology is highly effective in detecting disease recurrence at an early stage, enabling timely medical intervention.
The conference further examined the rising incidence of prostate cancer in India, associated risk factors, the importance of early screening and strategies to increase public awareness about the disease.
